The House of Sharing

House of Sharing är ett museum och hem för sk.  "comfort women". Under WW2 tvingades kvinnor bli sexslavar för den japanska armén.  Besöket på museet berättar om några av dessa kvinnors missöden och vilket helvete de fick utstå. Många kvinnor blev grovt  misshandlade och våldtagna. De flesta var bara mellan 13-21 år gammal, oftast blev de lurade om arbete. En kvinna berättar att hon var på väg hem från fältet och skulle göra lunch till sina föräldrar, på väg hem blev hon bortrövad, slagen och våldtagen därefter transporterad med båt till Kina, eller ngn annan del av världen.

På denna tid fick kvinnor inte resa utan pass eller manligt sällskap, vilket också gjorde det svårare för dessa kvinnor att fly. De visste heller inte vart de var någonstans. 

Omkring 200 000 kvinnor tros ha tvingats till ett liv som sexslav i Asien. Idag finns omkring 40 kvar i livet.

Hemmet drivs delvis av frivilliga och ligger på landet 90 minuter bort från Seoul bredvid flera tomatodlingar och berg som kuliss. Vi hade även möjlighet att få prata med en av kvinnorna som bor här (tolk fanns).

Organisationen kräver en offentlig ursäkt från den japanska regeringen och demonstrerar varje onsdag utanför Japanska ambassaden i Seoul.

The shield symbolize a woman's wanted life. A crown on her head,
A tutor on her left side and family on her left. The waves symbolize childbirth.

On the opposite side another shield symbolize the life she got. The bayonets rise from a 

Chrysanthemum flower (official flower of Japan) and pierce her, ripping through her dress. Falling doves 

reflect fallen hope while her right hand drops the rose of sharon (official flower of Korea).

Last restplace for the women living in the house since many of them don't have a family.

All the women living here, get a bronze staty after their death. This is just a few of them.

On our way back to Seoul a "blood moon" appears.

House of Sharing is a museum and home of the "Comfort women", women who were forced to become sex slaves for the Japanese army during WW2. The visit to the museum tells the story of some of these women's misfortunes and what hell they endured. The visitor can also talk to some of the women living here.

Many women were horribly abused and raped. Most women were between 13-21 years old and where ususally allured with promising of work to support their family, some were brutually abducted without their families ever knowing what happened to their daughters.

Around 200 000 women are believed to have been forced into a life as sex slaves across Asia. Today there are about 40 left alive.

The home is managed partly by volunteers and located in the country,  90 minutes away from Seoul next to several tomato plantations and mountains as a background.

The organization demonstrates every Wednesday outside the Japanese embassy in Seoul demanding a public apology from the Japanese government.

Those women’s life gave a strong impression on me. We all were very moved hearing their storys.
